Toms Cabrio

Tom’s 1965 bug cabriolet

Tom came to me via this very website, His car had been laid up for a while and he wanted it re-commissioning and MOT’d so he could use it this summer.

Tom’s car needed a few little jobs doing before the MOT. These included fixing a gearbox oil leak, welding up a small hole in the inner wing, an adjustment to the steering box and an adjustment to the height of the lights.

Tom’s car has an all round Porsche disc brake conversion, this however needed a bit of an overhaul as they came up imbalanced on the mot stations brake testing machine. I stripped and rebuilt all four callipers and they came up spot on the brake testing machine. I also modified and improved the handbrake linkage to use standard beetle cables instead of the mish mash of VW/Porsche cables that had previously been made.

Whilst the car was with me I also fitted a CSP gear shifter and the chromed rear light housings.

Toms car is lovely and I really didn’t want to give it back ………..
