Jo's Type 3
Jo’s Fastback is an old show car built in the early 90s. Jo loves the car to bits, but over the last few years it had become slightly neglected: a drunken driver had crashed into it outside Jo’s house and it hadn’t been serviced for a long time.
I collected the car and took it into the workshop to recommission it and make it good for road use once again. Normally, I would take a customer’s car for an MOT to confirm what work needs to be done to enable it to become useable again. Before I had even got Jo’s car ready for the MOT, however, I noticed it had a fuel leak from the pipe at the bottom of the fuel tank. I replaced this pipe and then took it for its MOT. The car didn’t do too badly considering it had been off the road for three years: it failed on four small spots of welding and the front brakes locking on.
The front calipers were replaced, along with the front flexible brake lines, which were perished. I also carried out the welding required and sealed and painted these areas. While the car was in the workshop, it also received a full engine service, a new rear wing and a new petrol flap mechanism.
