Jem's New Beetle - Bertie

Jemma has had her New Beetle for seven years now, and I have worked on it and modified it from day one.

In the time she’s had “Bertie,” I have replaced his rear bumper, lowered him, performed routine maintenance, such as light bulb changes, and serviced him, but the biggest job of all was to fit the front brakes, callipers and discs from a new model Porsche 996. This was by no means an easy conversion. Jemma supplied spare front hubs, and I then spent many hours machining and modifying them to accept the Porsche callipers and discs.

We have seen no other New Beetle in the UK with this brake conversion, and Jemma reports that Bertie stops as well as he looks.
