Carrie's Bug

This Bug came to me for a spot of MOT welding and a few other little jobs. It was the owner’s first Bug and they wanted a cheap fix.

I cut out the rot from the heater channels and locally repaired these areas rather than put in a full heater channel, which, after discussion with the owner, we agreed was not required.

The area around the jacking point on one side was also repaired and reinforced. The car also needed a small spot of welding alongside one of the rear body mounts and I had to make a small repair to the floor pan. I also found a small hole on the bottom of a panel; on further investigation this became a large hole, and I ended up replacing the lower part of the A panel.

While the car was in the workshop, I also lowered it and fitted an adjustable Puma front beam from German and Swedish. These are only available in left-hand drive, so I also converted it to right-hand drive.
